Getting Married at the Longmynd Hotel
You can hold your civil ceremony in the Parthenon (60 pax), Pavilion (100 pax), Alpine (50 pax) or the Ballroom (80 pax). We do not charge for the use of the room as long as you hold your Reception with us. For more details please speak to the Longmynd Hotel wedding co-ordinator on 01694 722244.
What to do to ensure your wedding ceremony is at the Longmynd Hotel
You are both required by law to each give a “notice of marriage” before the Superintendent Registrar. This can be booked up to 12 months in advance. Once you have booked your time with the Registrar you can reserve one of our wedding rooms.
What is a Notice of Marriage?
This is the legal preliminary to your marriage. You will both give your Notice of Marriage to the Superintendent Registrar in the district where you live. If you or your partner live in different districts you must give notice in both districts. The Notice of Marriage is displayed on the public notice board at the register office for 15 clear days after which the Superintendent Registrar can issue the authority for your marriage to go ahead.
We don’t live in the Ludlow Registration District can we still marry at the hotel?
Yes. Book your time and date with the Registrar, and he will explain to you when and where you give your Notice of Marriage and then book one of the Longmynd wedding rooms.
How much will it cost?
We do not charge for the use of the room as long as you hold your Reception with us. Please contact the Registrar for his costs.
What documents do we have to bring?
If either of you has been married before, it will be necessary to produce a decree absolute in the case of divorce. You should also take your birth certificate, any documentary evidence regarding a change of name, other documents confirming your address (e.g. council tax bill, drivers licence etc.) and if you were born outside the United Kingdom a passport.
When is the office open to take the notice of marriage?
A notice of Marriage or Civil Partnership for persons living within Shropshire, can be given at any of 12 Registration Offices in the County. To make an appointment or for further information please contact Shropshire Registration & Celebratory Services on 0845 678 9016.
Not all couples wishing to marry will need the services of registration service staff, however for all civil marriages and non conformist church marriages the registration service has a role to play. In some instances the Clergy of the Church of England will ask that couples give notice instead of having their banns read out. If you are unsure in anyway please contact the Registration service on 0845 678 9016 for advice.
