The Longmynd is around 30 minutes drive from the M54 at Telford. A car park is available in the grounds with ample free parking. If you are using a sat nav, the postcode for the Longmynd is SY6 6AG.
From the A49, turn into Church Stretton Town Centre, continue along Sandford Avenue and turn left at Lloyds TSB. Travel along High Street, going straight over the mini roundabout. Take the first right into Cunnery Road. Proceed up the hill, minding the hairpin bend. Our main gate is at the top on the left hand side.
Church Stretton station is less than a mile from the Longmynd and has trains approximately every hour in each direction from Shewsbury, Crewe, Manchester and South Wales. For train times and ticket prices see: www.nationalrail.co.uk.
The Longmynd is less than a mile from Church Stretton station, but is a steep uphill walk. A taxi is therefore recommended – allow £5. We will send you a taxi booking form prior to your stay
The nearest airport is at Birmingham. If you are arriving at London Heathrow or London Gatwick it is possible, if you have a morning arrival, to reach Church Stretton in a day. See www.nationalrail.co.uk for details on travelling from these airports by train.
If you are arriving at London Heathrow take the Underground to Euston station in central London. From here you can take a train to Crewe, then a connecting train to Church Stretton. Total journey time around 4 to 5 hours.
From Gatwick Airport the easiest option is to take a Thameslink train to King’s Cross St Pancras station in central London. From here it is a 10-15 minute walk to London Euston station. Take a train from here to Crewe, then a connecting train to Church Stretton. Total journey time around 4 to 5 hours.
Birmingham Airport is adjacent to Birmingham Internation station – from here there are direct trains to Shrewsbury where you should change for a train to Church Stretton. Journey time is around 2 hours depending on connections.
Manchester Airport has its own station – trains to Church Stretton usually require one change at Crewe, and occasionally a second change at Shrewsbury. Jourrney time is around 2 hours depending on connections.
